HELPS DISSOLVE STONES: Innovative urinary tract cat food helps dissolve pure struvite stones and helps prevent calcium oxalate stones

BLADDER HEALTH: RSS methodology for cat bladder health lowers the risk of crystal formation

S/O INDEX: The exclusive S/O Index creates an environment unfavorable to crystal formation in the bladder to support urinary health

HELPS PREVENT STONE REOCCURANCE: Specialized diet, with a reduced level of magnesium, helps prevent struvite stones from reoccurring

When your cat has urinary issues, easing their discomfort requires special care. But with the help of your veterinarian and Royal Canin, there’s not just hope—there can be a true difference.

This veterinary-exclusive loaf in sauce wet cat food was developed to nutritionally support your adult cat’s urinary tract and bladder health. It increases the amount of urine your cat produces to help dilute excess minerals that can cause crystals and stones. Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology is used to help lower ion concentration in urine, which contributes to stone formation. This formula promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the formation of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals. And this specialized nutrition, with a reduced level of magnesium, helps dissolve pure struvite stones and prevent struvite stones from forming. Lower urinary tract issues may be a recurring concern for some cats. Talk to your veterinarian about keeping your cat on this urinary cat food for long-term urinary support. And ask them about the right Royal Canin dry cat food and treats to complement your cat’s diet.

New Formula = Vomiting and More Water Consumption

Perhaps this won't apply to new users, however, my two cats (a boy and girl who free feed so they need to be on the same food) have been using both the dry and web SO formula for a year. Upon getting the new gold label, they both started vomiting almost daily until. Although they drank more water on the SO diet, it ramped up moreso after the change. I was concerned and had the vet test them both. They checked okay, so I started to chalk it up to older aged cats (9 years), then I read the reviews here. It makes so much sense. I contacted Royal Canin and they said they know of no problems with this formula. I guess they haven't read user reviews here. I have a fully supply of both wet and dry--quite a bit of money--that is now wasted and I'm concerned about what to feed them now. Hill's Prescription Diet seems to be the next best option.

VOMIT

Bought a few cans from the vet because my cat was just diagnosed with urinary crystals. Within minutes of eating this wet food she vomited all over. Dinner that night I gave it to her again not realizing it was the food. Again within minutes she vomited it all up! I had another brand - Hills C/D and I gave her that and she ate it just fine. The next morning I tried the Royal Canin again and bam - vomited all over. Will never feed this food again! Gave her the hills c/d and she's been fine for days now - no vomiting.

Cat's health decreasing while price increasing

I wish you hadn't changed the formula. We rescued a special needs kitty from the shelter 4 years ago and this food was her prescribed diet, which was the green label at that time. Since the formula change my cat's health is declining, she's losing weight, and shedding fur like crazy. All the while, the price has gone up significantly - it's now about double what it cost when we first adopted her. I will be asking the vet for another option for her food. The only OK thing at this point is that my cat doesn't seem to mind the change in flavor/texture (we have always mixed water in with her food from the beginning when she was eating the green label version) but it sounds like we are lucky in that regard. Please listen to your customers and change it back to the original formula.

sick cats

I have a boy cat and his sister on S/O dry and wet loaf and wet morsels and they have had it for maybe 2 years. At about February I noticed deterioration in both of them: fur shabby, losing weight, itchy skin. I suspected everything in my house like fumes or the pet condos or furniture covers so I threw out just about everything. They continue to deteriorate. I am checking with my vet about switching to another brand now that I've seen so many complaints. Shocking.

Horrible New Formula

My cat will not touch this anymore. He has diarrhea and sometimes vomits. I contacted the company to see why they changes the formula from the green can to the brown loaf. They said there was too much moisture and they have not received any complaints. I also asked about the brown crust on the bottom of the can and the odor. They said that during the cooking process there is often carbonation separation and browning which is normal. They obviously are not reading these reviews, and did not warn us that they were changing the formula. Are they going g to reimburse us for these vets Bill's god forbid our cats get severely ill?? Do not waste your money. My cat does not like Hills so he has to just eat the royal canin dry food.

New formula

I'm a Vet tech, and my cat has been on s/o morsels for years now. The recent formula change isn't good. Why did the company change it to begin with. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, as they say. The new stuff stinks... Like, sometimes I think it's spoiled even though it's brand new. My cat used to be a chow hound (no pun intended) now he leaves a lot behind. It's a waste. Why did you change it...??

must add water!

My cat suddenly had urinary issues which turned out to be urinary cysts.I had been feeding inexpensive wet cat food and a salmon based no grain dry food. I always had to grind the wet food and usually strain out the bones and anything else,or they would not eat it.they love the dry. The younger cat suddenly started going from box to box and I knew something was wrong. She could not get all the urine out. the DR. put her on medication which worked quickly. Tthen started her on the Royal Canin. The only one she would eat was the RO loaf in sauce. I started adding 1/3 can of water and using my hand blender. She and the other cat, would eat it all only if I added the water and used the blender. With 2 cats I am using 7-8 cans per week. This is costing me at least $20.40 per week. I need to find something else Plus the no grain dry food for the cat without urinary issues, a 3 lb. bag is $9.00! I have to be careful so the cat with urinary issues does not get the dry food. If anyone can offer help I really need it! I am going to start researching other wet foods.

New formula is terrible

My cat has had urinary issues for years and the only thing that works for him was the old formula. I noticed a change in his physical health once they changed the formula in his food in the last year or so. He's having more problems than ever with leaking, and we were able to test this theory because we had half a case of the old formula left. I believe when I called to reach out they said that they had removed some kind of egg protein which I now have been substituting by making eggs or chicken for his food. The price also increased $8 a month, what's the point of spending the money if the food isn't going to do the trick anymore? Raw diet here we come.

RC executives - read these bad reviews

I read the bad reviews but due to the pandemic I couldn't get anything else. My cat gulps it down every time but then spits it right back up in 10-20 minutes. We tried it for almost 2 weeks, slowly easing it in with his old food, but he wouldn't have any of it. He was fine with the Urinary SO Calm formula, and he likes the dry food, but this is terrible. It's also disappointing that senior managers are not reading these bad reviews and helping customers choose an alternative.
