Best Ever

My dog got pancreatitis when he was 3 years old and I tried everything from boiling up chicken & rice to a low fat raw meat diet. I was so relieved when I discovered Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Low Fat Dry Food as it basically saved my dog's life. He is 11 years old now and people comment that he is still like a puppy. I soak the kibbles in water to make sure he is getting plenty of fluids as he isn't a big drinker and his stools and urine are always healthy looking. I have recommended this product to other dog owners who were going though the awful journey of finding the right food when their dog had pancreatitis and the results have always been amazing much to the owners relief.

Life saver!

My Biewer Yorkie has bouts of pancreatitis and this was prescribed by my vet after she was hospitalized and on an lV. We were able to bring her home after 3 days, and after her first feeding, she was back to health. She had her first normal poo in about a week! It was so perfect my husband spray painted it gold! That was perhaps 8 years ago. She still has the occasional bout where she won’t eat and will vomit and have diarrhea, but she is always better after she eats this food. I mix the wet and dry Gastrointestinal. I know this product has extended and improved her quality of life. At 11, she still plays like a puppy. Thank you Royal Canin!

SERIOUSLY...it's NOT discontinued!

Like many companies of people/animal foods, RCVD supply chains for many products have been disrupted since COVID interrupted manufacturing, shipping, & deliveries well over a year ago - and it's still a challenge. MANY prescription diets are in short supply & only available some of the time, & this is across the board for ALL companies that product such foods. Vets DID get notice that this was, is, & will continue to be an issue. Still, this food is an excellent choice for many pets with GI issues. Beats most of the competitor's choices by a huge margin, is well accepted, and - remembering that this is a PRESCRIPTION diet, prescribed by your vet, and only meant to be fed for a fixed time frame, it's my top choice whenever a pet is having GI issues for which this food is appropriate - including for my own senior Cairn and younger mixed breed Terrier/Schnauzer whenever they have USE-APPROPRIATE gastrointestinal issues.

Reaction Report

My dog had a bout of stress related pancreatitis. He was switched to this food after being on Acana his entire life. After starting this food be developed rashes under his arm pits, started licking his feet, becoming constapted and loosing weight you could see all his ribs. He became lethargic and his coat for rough and thick. Reading the other reviews, I will be removing my dog from this food immediately. Very disappointed.

Recall of this food is needed

My 16 year old toy poodle has been on this food for most of her life for chronic pancreatitis. In May I bought a new bag and everything was different, the shape and color. After only about two weeks of her eating it, her pancreatitis started to flair up. She completely stopped eating it and I took her to our vet. They had me return the unused food and put her on a completely different food. Whatever this company has done to the food, it needs to be corrected. Dogs are getting sick with this food.

Why would you change something that works?

My little guy has been eating RC dry low fat gastrointestinal for 1 year and it saved his life. Now you have changed the formula and he has diarrhea constantly and his allergies are worse. If you care anything about our sweet dogs please go back to the old formula, our pets are suffering because of this.

Food has changed and causing issues

My dog has eaten this food for about two years due to chronic pancreatitis. Recently he has started itching like crazy and the white fur around his eyes is stained. Something has changed in this food and it’s causing issues. I thought they just changed the shape/size and color but appears to be more. Why change a product when dogs with sensitive stomachs and other sensitivities eat it. I’m so frustrated!

Dog died 1 week after starting new formula

My best friend died 1 week after starting a new bag of this food. Perfectly fine one day refusing to eat the next then a very rapid decline of chronic emesis and diarrhea and lab work changes thought to be severe pancreatitis. I am literally sick myself thinking it was quite possibly this food. Picture for attention.

This food is changed

My dog has been eating the dry food since 2012 due to pancreatitis he had. It's been several months now since it was changed and my dog has itching, gas, bad breath and is tired all the time. I took him to the vet for a physical exam and he is fine except for allergies that he never had. This new formula is making my dog itch all day, gassy and be sleepy the poor guy is eating grass on every walk. Thank God the Vet run out of it and my dog is now transitioning to the prescription diet digestive care Id low fat wet food. My dog already has less gas and less itching. I am going to find out how to make home-made low fat food for my dog who had pancreatitis and then post it online for everybody to use. Al these convenient commercial foods are basically animal meal and starch. No wonder how many dogs out there are walking around with those fat bellies.

Why has this formula changed??

My dog has been on a low fat diet for 2 years and has done great with this food, up until this last batch. Something has changed, the color and the size of the food. My dog has had a rock hard stomach several times and I took to emergency ver because I thought it was the end!! Stomach was distended and bloated! Please figure out what is going on and bring back the old formula!!
