Changed Recipe

Be forewarned. The recipe has changed and the nuggets are different. My Spaniel ate some of the new recipe and the diarrhea started. Why they cannot just leave stuff alone when it works.

Great low fat food

My miniature schnauzer had a bout of pancreatitis and we switched to this food afterwards. It has done an excellent job of controlling his fat intake and helping to keep him healthy.

Ingredients

Ingredient list is horrible. Rice corn and chicken by product meal. Wow truly disgusting and very upsetting. There are way higher quality foods that can do the same job as this "prescription diet". What even is the "prescription" in this food?

Calorie content, watch for weight loss

Tasha was diagnosed with pancreatitis and switched to this low fat canned food 4 mths ago. She has done quite well. We realized about a month ago that she was losing weight so we increased feeding slightly. We feed 3 times a day which is good for her.

I wish it was less expensive

My vet put my seven year old Newfoundland mix on this last month. He LOVES it! He seems to stay full longer, doesn’t smell as “dog like” and I’m not constantly cleaning up behind him in the back yard. I’m switching to human food though, as it is cheaper for me to make it right now. For those who can afford it, don’t even think twice if your vet recommends it for your fur babies!

The only food that helped loose stool

Our dog always had problem with her stomach until the vet recommended this food. Since then the problem is gone, but as soon as we treat her with something and she hasn’t eaten enough of the dry food, her stomach gets upset again. I give her cooked chicken meet with the dry food and sometimes coconut oil or salmon oil, so that it’s not so dry. Interestingly, she even likes this food, although before she never was a dry food lover. :)

Keeps his belly regular

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our senior dogs have what we like to call “old Mann guts”, and have to watch what they eat. They’re prone to pancreatitis and need low fat diets. Due to their ages they tend to be picky eaters but they like the taste and tolerate the diets well

6 year old Boxer with IBD

This food is absolutely a God Send! Our Boxer was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and it’s been a nightmare finding a food and medicine that would work for him! He had lost 20 pounds from all the constant diarrhea and throwing up- we had to take him to Mississippi State University to see their vets and get a biopsy because he had a mass in his stomach as big as a softball- turned out that mass was undigested food sitting in his stomach! It had been in his stomach over a month! He doesn’t digest food at all! His intestines just don’t work! Which was crazy to hear, he has to take metoclopramide and omeprazole along with this food which is only one he can digest! So when I say it’s the best thing ever, it definitely is! And Tyson ( Our Boxer) cannot eat bones or treats so we get the same royal canin canned gastrointestinal food and take one of those deviled egg trays and we take spoonfuls and make our own bite sized pieces and freeze it! And when we want to give him a treat we just grab one out of freezer and give it to him! Thank you so much Royal Canin! If it wasn’t for you our Tyson wouldn’t be here!!! Tyson says Thank You!

My dog loves it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My Oscar had really bad dierreha and nothing would stop it until I got royal canine food. Now he is a happy and healthy dog.
