Nutritional profile specifically adapted for the bitch’s high energy needs at the end of gestation and during lactation.

Nutritional response helps to facilitate the transition from mother’s milk to solid food.

Kibbles easily rehydrate to a porridge-like consistency that is very palatable for both the bitch and her weaning puppies.

Developed from scientific research, Royal Canin's START COMPLEX is a combination of nutritional elements present in mother’s milk that actively promote digestive health and help maintain the puppy’s natural defenses.

Royal Canin’s Starter formulas are a unique nutritional solution that meets the needs of the mother and her puppies during the first 5 stages of life: gestation, birth, lactation, weaning and growth up to 2 months.

Healthy puppies

I've been using mini starter for mother and her babies for 3 years now. All my puppies are healthy. They love the flavor. I like the fact that it can be served wet or dry. I highly recommend it to other breeders.

Smallest kibble for tiny puppies!

I love mini starter and so do my Yorkie babies. They wean very well onto solid food with it and it doesn't gag them like bigger kibble.

Excellent starter food for puppies.

My female yorkie bounces back very rapidly to her prepregnancy state that it is truly amazing. The pups also grow much quicker and are very healthy with this food. Definately recomment this to anyone with small dogs who are being bred.

The BEST starter food for a puppy!

So I ended up having to pick my Yorkie/Maltese (Morkie) female puppy up almost 2 weeks early, so she was about 6 1/2 weeks old. She was already super small because of her breed but also due to her age. I had bought IAMS Smart Puppy since that's what the breeder told me she was feeding them, but the bites were HUGE and Lucy (our puppy) barely had one tooth let a lone a whole mouth full! So I went to Pets Mart and told them my issues and they were kind enough to point me in the direction of Royal Canin Mini Starter. Lucy began eating right away. She was eating the wet food mouse formula mini starter for a good month and we began offering her the dry form alone throughout the day and we noticed she loved it! She also loves that it's mixed in with her wet food for her regular meals throughout the day. They are small triangular shape but easy enough for her to chew. She is now 4 months old & we are beginning to transition her to the Xsmall puppy formulas which has the same triangular shaped kibble but a little bigger. So far so good!
