Helps dissolve and prevent pure struvite stones and helps prevent calcium oxalate stones

Lowers the risk of crystal and stone formation using RSS methodology for bladder health

Highly palatable hydrolyzed proteins help to reduce skin and GI reactions that may be a result of food sensitivities to common proteins found in pet food

Supports healthy digestion and reinforces the skin barrier with nutrients to support and maintain healthy skin

Whether this is your cat’s first urinary issue or she has developed food sensitivities and needs ongoing urinary care, your vet recommended Royal Canin Urinary SO + Hydrolyzed Protein for a reason. This veterinary-exclusive dry cat food was developed to nutritionally support your adult cat’s urinary tract and bladder health. It’s designed with Relative SuperSaturation (RSS) methodology to help lower ion concentration in urine, which contributes to stone formation. This formula promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the formation of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals. It also features highly digestible hydrolyzed protein, which helps reduce the risk of stomach and skin signs in cats with food sensitivities. Talk to your veterinarian about keeping your cat on this urinary cat food with Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein Treats for long-term urinary tract support.

Made my kitty worse

I bought this food for my kitty who is a urinary cat + recent gastrointestinal problems. He had ultrasounds that he had intestinal thickening (likely IBD) and the vet recommended this food, however, I do NOT recommend it. It didn’t help with his issues and he even began losing weight again. He stopped eating and was basically spitting the food out, he NEVER does this. He LOVES his food! He also began hiding and not cuddling anymore which is so unlike him. I see others have had similar issues so I felt compelled to share my story. I work in a vets office and usually recommend RC, I adore their normal urinary food and other types they make, but this is a NO go for me. Maybe it works for some, but I just don’t feel comfortable not sharing his story. My boy switched to GI Biome from hills and is doing much better only a week into it. It’s sad because I spent a lot of money on this food only for it to have made my kitty worse.

Please make this product in wet food

As stated in the previous messages, this food is great for my cat's IBS and crystals in his bladder but he loves wet food. Could you formulate one?
Royal Canin response
Thank your for your suggestion. We will forward it to the right team.

Vet Suggested and it made my cat very sick

I was told to buy this for my cat for my vet because he had idiopathic cystitis. Look at the ingredients list. It makes no sense to feed your cat corn Brewers, rice, wheat, gluten protein, byproducts anyhow, my cat threw up for the last four days look for something more natural online. Vet schools are pushing this down vets and also paying premiums to have them sell it
Royal Canin response
I am very sorry you feel that way. Grains are important sources of nutrients including amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Pet foods may include one or more grains such as rice, wheat, corn, barley, and oats. Whole grains can be difficult to digest when uncooked, but properly processed grains are highly digestible. If you need more information regarding the ingredients we use in our diets, you are welcome to reach out to us via email.

Formulation change?

Something has changed with this food. My cat has been eating this food for several years, and since opening the last bag he has had diarrhea. Has the formulation changed?

GI upset in kitty

I have been feeding my cats this for years now and I’m not sure if the formula has been changed but my kitty now has diarrhea that smells terrible and is clearly bothering him. It’s so expensive and yet seems to not be as beneficial as it once was. Vet visits and medication should not come from a food.
Royal Canin response
I am very sorry to hear that. Please reach out to us via email as we would like to get more details about your concern.

If you have some money to waste, go for it

I live with a friend who has a cat with urinary problem so I had to stop the purina hydrolyzed one to go with this RC food and this has to be a bad joke. The purina one was working so good on my cat's allergies and as soon as I transitioned to this formula, her allergies came back. Cause what a great idea to had chicken fat in an formula for allergic cats! As third ingredient. How a good way to ruin and contaminate a106$ food! I am so disappointed.

Serves purpose, PLEASE MAKE WET VERSION

My male cat has urinary problems as well as digestive problems. This food has stabilized him for now and I’m grateful for that. However, I’m far from the only customer who would like to see a wet food option as well. He was prescribed this food by the vet along with medicine but it was extremely difficult to mix with dry kibble.

Help me FIND this food!

It works for our senior (16 yr old) cat with a history of bladder issues and IBD. But I am moving to another state (Kansas) and cannot find this food *anywhere* there, either in a retailer or online.
Royal Canin response
I am very sorry. Our multi function diets are available for purchase only through vet clinics at the moment.

Make a Wet Version!!! Please!!!!

This product has not irritated my cat with IBD who now needs to have a food with a S/O to reduce the risks of crystals since he has become prone to blocking. please consider making a wet version of this food, wet food is ideal for cats and there is no other company that currently makes a hypo food with an S/O index.

My cat needs this food!

My cat has to have this food. It’s the only prescription diet that’s worked for her that also addresses her sensitive tummy. She’s 18 and likely wouldn’t survive another surgery if her stones come back. But I can’t depend on this company to produce the food she needs. I can’t tell you how many times it’s been out of stock or back ordered over the last 3 years. And yes, I do believe the quality has declined in their products. My other cat gets a half can of wet food with her kibble and there are disgusting chunks of fat in the can that used to not be there. I’ve noticed diarrhea issues with both and they eat different foods from this company. I used to be able to justify spending money for this very expensive brand. I can no longer do this since I can’t trust them to regularly produce the prescription food one of my cats needs, and because their quality has really tanked. So disappointed in Royal Canin.
Royal Canin response
I am sorry to learn that you are having difficulty acquiring this product. Rest assured the product is not discontinued. We apologize for the frustration. We are seeing some intermittent out of stock due to high demand. This formula has not changed over the last two years
