HELPS DISSOLVE STONES: Innovative urinary tract cat food helps dissolve pure struvite stones and helps prevent calcium oxalate stones

BLADDER HEALTH: Lowers the risk of crystal formation using RSS methodology for cat bladder health

S/O INDEX: The exclusive S/O Index creates an environment unfavorable to crystal formation in the bladder to support urinary health

HELPS PREVENT STONE REOCCURANCE: Specialized diet, with a reduced level of magnesium, helps prevent struvite stones from reoccurring

When your cat has urinary issues, easing their discomfort requires special care. But with the help of your veterinarian and Royal Canin, there’s not just hope—there can be a true difference.

This veterinary-exclusive dry cat food was developed to nutritionally support your adult cat’s urinary tract and bladder health. It increases the amount of urine your cat produces to help dilute excess minerals that can cause crystals and stones. Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology is used to help lower ion concentration in urine, which contributes to stone formation. This formula promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the formation of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals. And this specialized nutrition, with a reduced level of magnesium, helps dissolve pure struvite stones and prevent struvite stones from forming. Lower urinary tract issues may be a recurring concern for some cats. Talk to your veterinarian about keeping your cat on this urinary cat food for long-term urinary support. And ask them about the right Royal Canin wet cat food and treats to complement your cat’s diet.

Formula Change and Vomit Everywhere

I've been feeding my cats the SO diet for years and it has done well in keeping them healthy, but since they changed the packaging (and the formula too, even though they don't say so) my cats have been vomiting after every meal. I am so upset that a pet food company would change the formula without telling their customers, since everyone knows that abruptly changing pet foods is a recipe for vomiting disaster. I confirmed the recipe change with the company, so I'm 100% sure the change has happened. Even if they change back to the old formula, I will never buy food from Royal Canin again as I can't trust them anymore. I switched to Purina UR food and the vomiting has stopped, but the verdict on the urinary crystals is still out. Time will tell.

Concerned owner of 2 cats

I just read the reviews from the unhappy cat owner (May 2020) re/ the change in your SO food for Urinary issues. I am in shock and have to agree with them. I never knew the recipe had changed and I have 2 cats, one male that needs it, and a female that is on it because it is very difficult trying to separate them and I do not want to risk my male cat eating the wrong food and getting sick. I have spent $3,000 for 2 different Urinary issues that my cat had, and was directed to feed him ONLY this food. Both my cats have been throwing up constantly everyday and I thought it was something they got into, and have since had to call to make a vet appointment. Bought them new dishes for anti-vomiting issues, and have limited their food to feeing them smaller amounts. If you are changing around the recipe and ingredients it definitely is not a good thing. I am shocked as well that you are not making a more conscience decision to inform the consumer and the vet offices from where we purchase it. I would really appreciate a follow up email on this issue in the next couple days. I am worried sick for my cats who are both 12 years old and should not have to continue to throw up and be in agonizing pain and not get the nutrients needed. Also, your food is not affordable, we are spending $80 for a 17 lb. bag. Most of it I am cleaning up as vomit and throwing out. Waste of money!!!!!!

Why did you change the formula?

We have 2 cats - 1 of which has bladder issues. At 13 years old, he has had 2 bladder surgeries. At his age, we will not put him thru that again. After the last surgery, the vet switched us to Royal Canin. Both cats loved the food - but that was the old formula with the green label. At the beginning of this year, my Chewy order showed up and the label was now brown. I didn't think much of it and figured it was a packaging update, because surely you would not change the formula on a VETERINARIAN diet with no notice. Boy was I wrong! After eating both the wet and dry of the new formula, BOTH of my cats were vomiting. Every....single....time. Something is clearly wrong with the new formula. Look at the change in your ratings. Yes, overall the food still has a good rating, but that is because of all of the good ratings for the OLD formula. Like others have said, why not just add another option if you wanted to change the formula? It's not like pet owners buy the more expensive vet diets for fun....or having to get a prescription to feed your cat. People are spending a lot of money to take their kitties to the vet because of the HARM this food is causing them. What is your plan to address all of this? How many cats have to get sick? How much vomit do pet owners have to clean up as a direct result of the formula change you made? What happens when someone's cat dies because of bladder stones as a result from not eating the food that WAS helping with their medical condition? What are you going to do?

Horrible food

This was the only food my cat would eat. Now, he hates it and when he does eat it he throws up. I will never buy Royal Canin again. I now have trust issues with them and several hundred dollars in vet bills trying to get my cat healthy again.

Not the same AT ALL

My 13 year old cat absolutely loved this food for about 5 years up until the recent change in formula. Now he barely touches it, has had many loose stools, and seems very lethargic. I had a tiny bit of his old food left in a bag, and just to see gave him a handful...he gobbled it right up! So disappointed!!

Made our Cat Sick

After reading the current reviews, we now realize why our cat has been throwing up for weeks. A change in the formula must be the reason. Could have saved the $200+ at the vet trying to figure out what was going on. Wish I had seen this sooner. Change the formula back please!!!

Our male cat had bladder stones years back and we almost lost him. Our veterinarian put him on dry urinary SO he has done great on this food and had no urinary issues since! It saved his life and he loves this food!

I am very confused dont' know how to rate this

I bought this bag last summer in August. After it was finished, I kept the bag, and use it to store my dogs dry food, because its the right size, and the bag is sturdy. After reading these reviews, I took this old bag from last August, and compared the ingredients to what is listed on this website, and the ingredients are the same. So my question is, if they have changed the ingredients/formula, then why are the ingredients the same on my bag from last August, the same as listed on this website?

What happened with the food?!

My cat has been placed on urinary so due to urinary obstruction in November. Him and my other cat loved the dry and wet food at first. But something happened recently, and both of them wouldn’t touch wet or dry urinary so formulas. Will have to switch to Purina Pro Plan st/ox

Wish I had read the reviews first

Wow I didn't see these reviews until I started my cat on her second bag and she began vomiting and having diarrhea 2 or 3 times a day. She did love the taste but I don't know what garbage you guys are putting in this food. I'm considerably worried about her health and have her on prednisone and cerenia and pepcid for her new digestive problems from your food.
