My cat Frankie was prescribed a different brand of renal cat food about a year ago. He had gotten to the point where he wouldn't eat at all. After not eating for a week my vet gave me a can of Royal Canin renal support E and he is so happy! It has now been 2 weeks and he can't wait to eat. He is more playful and active. Thanks Royal Canin.

We started slowly switching our cat from Royal Canin Venison/Pea to this Renal Support formula, over a 2 week period. Around the time he was receiving equal portions of each food, he started experiencing horrible, painful diarrhea and was in a great deal of pain. I started looking around online and after reading the description here saw that this food is "only intended for intermittent / supplemental use." That implies that it is not supposed to be fed as the *sole* source of food, permanently. This was not conveyed to us by either of the veterinarians who were involved in prescribing this food, nor does it say anything on the can about being an "intermittent / supplemental" food. My cat has been suffering because of a major defect in labeling by this company: it needs to be written clearly, in the directions on the can, that this is a supplemental food, and not a complete and balanced diet. Until all veterinarians are aware of this and convey it to their patients when prescribing, Royal Canin needs to do the job of informing the consumer that this is a food SUPPLEMENT, not a permanent diet. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the Venison & Pea Protein has been so good for him, and I am thankful for that.
